PEACE SILVER DOLLARS
The Peace Dollar was minted in 1921-1928 and again in 1934-1935. It was originally going to be a commemorative coin following World War I, but instead it was put into circulation. The design was made by Anthony de Francisci.
At the time, demand for silver coins was low, so production stopped altogether in 1928, then resumed for a brief period in 1934 and 1935.
The Peace Silver Dollars were the last big US Silver Dollars of 90 per cent silver that were minted for circulation.
