America's 2 1/2 Gold Liberty Coin has become one of the most desirable coins by serious coin collectors. The 2 1/2 Gold Liberty Quarter Eagle features the "braided hair" style. The pre-civil war dates are more difficult to find, and they're generally higher priced than later dated coins.

The 2 1/2 Gold Liberty is a great foundation coin for any rare coin collection. Bear in mind, that you can easily find Philadephia Mint examples, but the 2 1/2 Gold Liberty Quarter Eagles struck at branch mints, such as Charlotte, Dahlonega, San Francisco, and New Orleans are much more scarce, and they're higher priced because of their rarity.
