$5 Gold Liberty Half Eagle, MS 61, Certified PCGS or NGC
Good luster, well struck, no spots.
1839-1908
The $5 Gold Liberty Half Eagle was the first gold coin struck by the United States mint. It is the only gold series in U.S. history that was minted at seven different U.S. branches.
Christian Gobrecht created the design for the $5 Gold Liberty, which features Lady Liberty on the obverse, encircled by 13 stars, which represent the first 13 colonies. The reverse has a proud Eagle with outstretched wings. The motto "In God We Trust" was added in 1866 in a flowing banner, just above the head of the eagle.
