$2 1/2 GOLD INDIAN QUARTER EAGLE
The $2 1/2 Gold Indian Quarter Eagles have a beautiful, incused look, where the main devices are sunk below the fields. On the obverse (front), is a proud Native American Chief, wearing a large feather headdress. On the reverse is a magnificent eagle, majestically sitting on an arrow, and holding an olive branch. The first $2 1/2 Gold Indian Quarter Eagles were released into circulation in 1908, and any of these that were produced at branch mints, shows the mintmark at the extreme left of the arrowhead. Many collectors consider the $2 1/2 Gold Indian Head Quarter Eagle to be the best looking U.S. gold coin, and the series should continue to be one of the most sought after coins in the future. A big advantage to collecting the Gold Indian Quarter Eagle is there are only 15 coins in a set, as opposed to many more dates in other denominations. This makes it easier and cost-effective to complete a set.
